Charitable Organizations

There are many charitable organizations in existence today, leaving the choice of choosing one to donate to quite difficult. The individual is often torn between many different charities that they wish to help. The process can be made easier by eliminating fake charities from the selection, as there are many seeking to cheat people who only want to help. There is a government website dedicated to educating individuals about fake charitable organizations.

Another way to narrow your choices is by researching the charity, finding out how much of your donation goes to the actual charity and how much to the costs of advertising, employee wages and other various sources that take away from your money. There are very few charitable organizations where one-hundred percent of donations go directly to the actual charity. They must also cover the cost of running their organizations and paying their employees. There are also less reputable charities that, in accordance with the law, only contribute three percent of donations to the actual charity.

The best type of charitable organization to donate to is a not-for-profit group as they contribute close to one-hundred percent of their donations to their charity. Their workers are volunteers who generally donate their time and products to advertise for free. One such charity is Dreams Do Come True, which uses donations from three sources to grant the wishes of American children from all walks of life. Whatever charity you decide to donate to, you'll be happy you did.
