Any Gift Giving is Charity

We often think of charities as only the giving of time or money to a defined organization.

Giving to others on any level is a form of charity. When you help a neighbor, that is being charitable. When you spend your time helping to build the self esteem of others, that is charitable.

The smallest action of giving of yourself can go a long way in improving the lives of those around you. This is the essence of true charity.

There are unlimited avenues for you to get involved in charities in your community.

You can reach out to those in your immediate neighborhood, reach out to those in your church community, or reach out to help the schools in your community. The sky is the limit. There will always be those around us that need our help.

In our community, people have come up with some very unique ways of reaching out to a variety of charities. One young boy decided to have an on-going lemonade stand, giving the proceeds to a charity his family chose. A gentleman from or church decided to share the equal amount of his power bill each month to a charity that helps needy people pay their power bills.

Scripture tells us that we are to give sacrificially. I believe this means that when we are made aware of  a need, that we should reach deep and do all that we can to try and help meet that need, knowing that God's word promises that we will never be able to out give His generosity. We will always be the ones who receive the blessings from our cheerful giving.
