Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to your country and your community ,but pushing yourself to be involved in too many activities of volunteering can burn you out quickly.
Positive people with great attitudes about helping their fellowman often fail to consider that they must take care of themselves first.
If you have involved yourself to the point that you are running from pillar to post trying to help others, you are probably short changing yourself and those you are reaching out to help, by not being up to your full potential due to fatigue.
We need to make sure that as we try to help, we are getting the proper amount of rest that helps us to keep our strength up.
Some areas of volunteering can be very stressful on our emotions. If you are volunteering with an organization that tears at your heart strings, you need to make sure you have a confidant that you can share your feelings with that can help relieve any anxiety that may build up. even though you may be volunteering with those you feel empathy for, you have to prepare yourself not to take it inward to the point that it begins to affect your life.
When helping those who are less fortunate than us, it is imperative that we not bring any gloom and doom from our exhaustion into their lives. We need to be in good health, rested, and carrying an upbeat attitude when we serve others, so that they notice what a joyful blessing we receive from the opportunity of being able to help.
