Anger Hurts

I read a story yesterday about how a father  severely injured his child out of blinded anger because the child scratched his car. Living with the regret of what he had done was impossible, and the father committed suicide. This got me to thinking about the way we treat people in our lives.

I often see the frustrations of this world causing people to strike out at the very ones who love them most, while being superficially kind and respectful of strangers or co-workers.

I do not understand how our society got into this form of thinking, yet I see it happening all around me. People just seem to forget that their families are the ones they need to encourage and love the most.

In the “ all about me” world we live in, people seem to treasure the getting of things for themselves instead of building loving relationships with the ones that should be nearest and dearest to them.

Children seem to be more on the receiving end of this abuse, either because the adult feels the child will not strike back, or because they are just easy targets

We as a society have got to change the way we behave. We are now raising a very angry generation of children. These children are constantly screamed at, and made to feel that they do not belong. Many of these children are told they are just in the way.

If you have young children around  you whom you feel are not being appreciate for the blessing that they are, reach out to them. We can begin to change the way they feel about themselves and their situation just by letting them know that we feel they are important. Take a moment each time you see them to point out something positive about them, and let them know you are glad they are there.
