Jimmie Johnson started the Jimmie Johnson Foundation in 2006, and has been very involved in assisting children, families, and communities of great need.
Jimmie sponsors a golf tournament in El Caljon, California every year in October and has consistently
raised over five hundred thousand dollars each year that remains in the San Diego area to give out grants ranging from twenty five to one hundred thousand dollars.
Another charity that Jimmie is involved in is the Make a Wish Foundation. Jimmie and Chandra Johnson have served on the National Advisory Council for this organization since 2005. Jimmie along with Nick Lachey host the Super Skins Golf Classic to help raise more funds for this organization.
Jimmie has been involved with the Hendrick Marrow Program since his rookie season in racing. He is involved in the Learn Live Hope Golf Classic, and was the spokesperson for the Nascar Foundation Blood Drive for 2006-2008. In 2008, 4,584 members were added to the marrow program, and 4,417 units of blood were donated.
Jimmie funded the construction of Jimmie Johnson's Victory Lane at Victory Junction in March of 2007. This is a four lane bowling center for chronically ill children who are visiting the Victory Junction camp.
Jimmie and Chandra teamed up with the San Diego habitat for Humanity in 2007 to begin purchasing land and building homes for the needy in Jimmie's hometown of El Cajon, California. They have built four homes and named the newly created street Foundation Lane. they even left their hand prints in the sidewalk of their completed homes.
