When The Golden Globe Award nominations were released earlier this week, there were several surprises. The nominees were fairly easy to have guessed, but the people and films that were snubbed were quite a surprise.
I was a little surprised that Brad Pitt was out of the loop. I wonder if this slighting has anything to do with his not so charming personality. His acting is well worthy of a nomination.
Not viewing Michael Stuhlbarg's performance in A Serious Man as comical, I was surprised to see he was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical. The movie itself was up for a Best Drama nomination.
One of the real shockers was the fact that they snubbed Spike Jonze for director when I felt that Where the Wild Things Are was one of the best directed movies of the year.
I wonder if the HFP even saw Brothers. Natalie Portman gave what I felt was her best performance of all time, right along with Closer, and they gave that nomination to Maguire. What were they thinking?
Seeing that Meryl Streep will be competing against herself {sort of} twice, makes me happy because I feel that she is a super actress. Julie and Julia along with It's Complicated are two of the best done comedies of the century. I guess her chances of getting a statue are pretty high.
Sandra Bullock's double nominations for The Blind Side {awesome movie}, and Best Actress Comedy or Musical in The Proposal give her a really great chance also. I think her best chance for a statue is The Blind Side.
