The Life and Death of Chris Henry

Chris Henry was by all accounts an interesting figure before and after he came on the scene in the NFL. Many bad choices in his young life landed him in jail.

Chris played college football at West Virginia and was a third round draft pick for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2005.

Many of Chris' friends and his coach at Cincinnati are saying that Chris was beginning to be focused on success and was really turning his life around when tragedy struck

Chris was engaged to Loleini Tonga and was in Charlotte, north Carolina visiting with her family and making final arrangements for his wedding.

It was these plans that started a strong dis-agreement between Chris and his fiance. Witnesses say he was extremely upset over the amount of money Tonga was planning to spend for their wedding. The argument began at the office of their wedding planner, and continued as they returned to her parent's home. Witnesses also state that Tonga was leaving the home when Chris was arguing with her and they heard him say that he would commit suicide if she did not stop the truck and talk with him. He jumped into the back of her pick-up truck as she was leaving.

Conflicting reports coming in to the Charlotte Police Department say that Chris fell from the truck as Tonga was swerving, while others say Chris purposefully jumped from the moving truck. Chris suffered massive head injuries in the accident that took his life with in twenty four hours. he was only twenty six years old.

It is so sad that people who are so connected that they are making plans to spend the rest of their lives together can not talk things through in a civil manner that would prevent such events as this.
